Investing.com – U.S. stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NYSE, the gained 0.83%, while the index added 0.56%, and the index added 0.39%.
The best performers of the session on the were Home Depot Inc (NYSE:), which rose 2.03% or 7.55 points to trade at 379.46 at the close. Meanwhile, McDonald’s Corporation (NYSE:) added 1.54% or 4.29 points to end at 282.87 and Apple Inc (NASDAQ:) was up 1.36% or 2.36 points to 176.08 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:), which fell 1.55% or 0.66 points to trade at 42.05 at the close. Johnson & Johnson (NYSE:) declined 0.36% or 0.57 points to end at 156.19 and Cisco Systems Inc (NASDAQ:) was down 0.26% or 0.13 points to 49.14.
The top performers on the S&P 500 were International Paper (NYSE:) which rose 10.96% to 38.77, The AES Corporation (NYSE:) which was up 4.47% to settle at 15.54 and Synopsys Inc (NASDAQ:) which gained 4.30% to close at 584.71.
The worst performers were FMC Corporation (NYSE:) which was down 6.65% to 61.67 in late trade, Advanced Micro Devices Inc (NASDAQ:) which lost 4.84% to settle at 181.42 and Monolithic Power Systems Inc (NASDAQ:) which was down 3.56% to 650.28 at the close.
The top performers on the NASDAQ Composite were Ontrak Inc (NASDAQ:) which rose 131.58% to 0.44, Fusion Pharmaceuticals Inc (NASDAQ:) which was up 99.06% to settle at 21.18 and Scworx Corp (NASDAQ:) which gained 53.51% to close at 2.84.
The worst performers were Greenwave Technology Solutions Inc (NASDAQ:) which was down 57.91% to 0.16 in late trade, Seelos Therapeutics Inc (NASDAQ:) which lost 29.18% to settle at 0.65 and Acutus Medical Inc (NASDAQ:) which was down 27.02% to 0.19 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the New York Stock Exchange by 1897 to 965 and 82 ended unchanged; on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange, 1911 rose and 1461 declined, while 135 ended unchanged.
Shares in International Paper (NYSE:) rose to 52-week highs; rising 10.96% or 3.83 to 38.77. Shares in Greenwave Technology Solutions Inc (NASDAQ:) fell to all time lows; falling 57.91% or 0.22 to 0.16. Shares in Fusion Pharmaceuticals Inc (NASDAQ:) rose to all time highs; gaining 99.06% or 10.54 to 21.18. Shares in Seelos Therapeutics Inc (NASDAQ:) fell to all time lows; falling 29.18% or 0.27 to 0.65.

Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.12% or 2.65 to $2,161.65 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 0.60% or 0.49 to hit $82.65 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 0.46% or 0.40 to trade at $87.29 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.06% to 1.09, while USD/JPY rose 1.17% to 150.88.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.23% at 103.48.
