Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the , and sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the declined 0.51%, while the index declined 0.44%.
The best performers of the session on the were Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (NS:), which rose 2.93% or 38.00 points to trade at 1,337.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Tech Mahindra Ltd (NS:) added 2.36% or 31.25 points to end at 1,358.00 and Cipla Ltd. (NS:) was up 2.01% or 26.00 points to 1,320.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were LTIMindtree Ltd (NS:), which fell 10.73% or 673.60 points to trade at 5,602.00 at the close. NTPC Ltd (NS:) declined 3.14% or 9.70 points to end at 299.60 and HDFC Bank Ltd (NS:) was down 3.04% or 46.80 points to 1,490.70.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:) which rose 2.80% to 1,335.65, Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:) which was up 2.16% to settle at 1,355.40 and Axis Bank Ltd. (BO:) which gained 1.29% to close at 1,097.45.
The worst performers were LTIMindtree Ltd (BO:) which was down 10.76% to 5,602.30 in late trade, HDFC Bank Ltd (BO:) which lost 3.26% to settle at 1,486.80 and NTPC Ltd (BO:) which was down 3.23% to 299.35 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1062 to 1062 and 38 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1838 fell and 1834 advanced, while 101 ended unchanged.

(BO:) rose to all time highs; rising 2.80% or 36.40 to 1,335.65. Shares in Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 2.16% or 28.70 to 1,355.40.

Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.38% or 7.55 to $2,014.05 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 0.65% or 0.47 to hit $72.95 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 0.41% or 0.32 to trade at $78.20 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.07% to 83.14, while EUR/INR rose 0.02% to 90.53.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.14% at 103.06.
