Vertex Energy (NASDAQ:VTNR) +3.8% post-market Wednesday after saying it received approval from the Environmental Protection Agency for the generation of D4 RIN credits under the U.S. Renewable Fuel Standard for each gallon of renewable fuel produced at its Alabama refinery.
Vertex (VTNR) said the facility currently produces ~5.5K bbl/day, with plans to increase toward the Phase 1 installed capacity target of 8K bbl/day by the end of Q2, in-line with previously disclosed targets.
The company started commercial production at the former Shell refinery last month, and entered into a new working capital facility with Macquarie Group that will help it secure feedstock for renewable diesel production at the plant.
Vertex (VTNR) anticipates initial commercial sales of renewable diesel within the current quarter.
