See Inside Walt Disney’s Onetime LA Home, Renting for $40,000 a Month

It may be the happiest place on earth — or at least in Los Angeles — for a Disney fan.

Animator and film producer Walt Disney’s Los Feliz home, which he built for his family in 1932, is on the rental market seeking $40,000 a month, the Wall Street Journal first reported.

It also has a screening room where Disney was known to kick up his heels and watch his films and dailies.

The Disney family lived in the house from 1932 to 1950, when they relocated to nearby Holmby Hills.

The property is currently owned by film director and producer Timur Bekmambetov, who bought it in 2011 for $3.7 million, the Journal reported.

Bekmambetov is known for films including “Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter” and the 2016 remake of “Ben-Hur.”

Bekmambetov has been proactive about opening the house to the community, working with Disney historian and blogger Todd Regan to organize tours of the property.

Now, the Israel-based director wants to give someone else the opportunity to experience living in the home.

Using old photos for reference, Bekmambetov has furnished the home with antiques similar to what the Disneys lived with.

He did, however, update the kitchen and appliances.

Campen said the property is renting for a premium, given its history.

He added, “It feels like a museum and living history because of its pedigree.”
