Medtronic (NYSE:MDT) has recalled its StealthStation S8 Application Version 2.0 and 2.0.1 due to a software glitch that can cause surgical plan data to shift locations, according to the FDA.
The product is used to help surgeons keep track of where surgical tools are in relation to the patient’s anatomy during stereotactic surgical procedures.
The FDA said the recall was classified as a product correction rather than a product removal. It added that Medtronic would be contacting customers to arrange for a software update when its is available, according to its medical device recall page.
No injuries or deaths had been reported in connection with the glitch, the agency added
